Query by angela: What can I put in a Christmas present baskets for mother and father/household?
The community service club I run in college is attempting to help a number of households in fiscal difficulty over the holidays by raising money then buying gifts. We’re preparing on acquiring toys for the young children and then putting together a present basket for the mother and father. We were thinking of placing in a thing for the entire household like movie tickets or a present card to a restaurant. We were also hoping to get some present-cards to a walmart or grocery-keep and some nice spa things for the mom. What do you guys feel ought to go in these present-baskets?

I think your ideas for Gift Cards is perfect! This way if they really need things, they can go and get what they need! You can fill it with maybe some candy, hot cocoa mix and teas.

Grocery store gift cards yes definetly. Walmart gift cards. Hot chocolate w/ mugs. Scarfs / Gloves. Slippers. Hats. Restaurant gift card. Movie tickets. I think you already have the right idea!

I think the movie tickets and restaurant gift cards are a great idea, that would be a nice splurge for a family who struggles financially!

Other things you could put in- gift card to a movie rental place with some popcorn and candy, a board game, a deck of cards and a book of card games, lip gloss or nail polish (if you know the family has girls or more mature colors for the mom), batteries (for other Christmas toys?), set of extra gloves or mittens for the kids… That’s all I can think of, hope it helps!
